Which election is my city's? Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade dates explained

South Florida cities don't all vote on the same day. Some vote with the November general election, some in March, and Miami-Dade goes city by city. Here is how each county works, and why the date changes when your mail has to land.

"When is the election?" sounds like a simple question, but in South Florida the answer depends on the city. A county commission race and a city council race on the same street can be months apart. This guide shows how each of the three counties schedules its city elections, and what the date changes for your mail. If you are new to campaign mail, Direct Mail 101 covers the ways to reach voters.

Three counties, three habits

Broward

Broward's Supervisor of Elections lists every city's schedule on one page (Broward municipal elections).

With the general election, Tuesday, November 3, 2026 (21 cities): Cooper City, Coral Springs, Dania Beach, Davie, Hallandale Beach, Hollywood, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Lauderdale Lakes, Lauderhill, Margate, North Lauderdale, Oakland Park, Parkland, Plantation, Pompano Beach, Southwest Ranches, Sunrise, Tamarac, West Park, Weston and Wilton Manors.

In March, Tuesday, March 9, 2027 (four cities): Deerfield Beach, Miramar, Pembroke Park and Sea Ranch Lakes. Broward tells voters in March cities "you have the option to vote-by-mail or in-person".

Later: Fort Lauderdale next votes in 2028 and Coconut Creek in 2029, with seats listed as "To be Determined".

Cities can change their dates by charter, and the list for March can grow as cities post their elections, so check the county page before you plan.

Palm Beach County

Palm Beach County has "39 municipalities, each with its own charter", and its city elections fall on one day: Tuesday, March 9, 2027, with runoffs on March 23, 2027. The Supervisor of Elections lists early voting for that election as "Not available". Voters register by February 8, 2027 and request a mail ballot by 5 p.m. on February 25, 2027 (Palm Beach SOE dates and deadlines).

The county page doesn't say which cities have a race on the ballot. Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Lake Worth Beach and Hypoluxo all show March 9, 2027 on their own sites. For any other city, ask the city clerk or the Supervisor of Elections.

Miami-Dade

Miami-Dade's cities set their own dates. These are the ones in our timeline, from the county's 2027 calendar (Miami-Dade elections calendar):

Some Miami-Dade cities also vote with the November 3, 2026 general election. If your city isn't listed here, the county calendar has it.

What changes with the date

The election date sets every other date your mail has to beat.

A worked example: Davie and Miramar

Davie and Miramar are both Broward cities, and they vote on different days. Say each has a candidate who wants an EDDM mailer in mailboxes before Election Day. Our EDDM window is 7 to 9 business days from approved artwork, counted on the slow end, landing at least a day early:

Davie Miramar
Election Day Tuesday, November 3, 2026 Tuesday, March 9, 2027
Early voting opens Monday, October 19, 2026 Ask your Supervisor of Elections
Approve EDDM by Tuesday, October 20, 2026 Tuesday, February 23, 2027

The Davie candidate's real deadline comes much earlier than the table's last column, because Davie's voters start voting by mail weeks before Election Day. The Florida campaign mail calendar shows how to plan pieces before ballots go out and before early voting. USPS doesn't guarantee a delivery date, so every mail date here is a planning window.

Use the picker in our timeline

Our timeline lists these elections by name, with the cities that vote in each. Pick yours, or type your own date, and pick the day you expect your artwork to be approved. It shows when each item lands against early voting and Election Day.

Confirm with your Supervisor of Elections

Dates come from local election offices and can change. Runoffs and special elections may not be listed. Confirm with your elections office. Each county's office has the final word:
